Rationale

The Phoenix
Her eyes are two different colours as she was originally two different phoenixes but have joined at birth. As a result she has two personalities. When the sun sets she becomes her dark counterpart lurking in the shadows of the Forrest.
During the day the phoenix is drawn to the sun and prefers to be in the air. It usually stays high up in the trees where the sun hits and spends its days finding the best sunny spots. This requires constant flying around so it has large strong wings to support its flying. Its long toes and claws enables it to cling onto tree branches.
It has an ear for good music and loves to sing. Similar to a parrot it can mimic different languages in its song. Highly tuned into the changes in barometric changes, when the phoenix predicts good weather it will sing and when the weather will be bad it will disappear from sight. Legend says that the phoenix only appears in times of prosperity but disappears in times of despair.
The horns on its head helps to regulate the bird’s temperature while in the sun for long hours. It helps to release excess radiation from the sun. Its horns grow from birth. There are 5 horns for its 5 virtues and is a symbol of a fully grown phoenix.
The phoenix survives on seeds, fruit, and plants. Due to the phoenix not having hands it uses its strong beak to break open tough seeds. Its neck is also long so that it can reach its food in the trees. Its legs are long to balance its long neck when flying. Its extra limb allows the phoenix to be able to cling onto things easily.

The body of the phoenix is reminiscent to a crane. In Chinese culture cranes are symbols of happiness and youth. The phoenix is creature recognised for its longevity so a crane seem like a good choice to base its body.
